As a naive and impressionable youngster I used to be engrossed in war films and would take every opportunity to play soldiers with my friends. We had a wide range of improvised weapons ranging from sticks to cap guns.
Although I prefer to use original comics as far as possible, they can be overpriced and very difficult to procure. This is where new technology can be advantageous. The pictures used don't have that aged look and feel but they still allow the viewer to see a slice of comic book history. The colours of the reproductions are vibrant and strong and really allow the original style to shine through.
At the time of production I can only imagine that the pictures would have been as empowering to the young reader as they are for me today.
